Cool-to-the-touch material

A few days ago, someone asked me, "Do you have any arm covers that have a cooling effect?"

Cool to the touch... Hmm. I didn't fully understand the definition, so it was a bit difficult for me to answer.

Silk wicks away moisture and feels cool to the touch.

Cool to the touch means that it feels cool when you touch it, so silk probably falls into that category, but it was a difficult situation to know what the customer was looking for.

So I researched cooling sensation and found that

"A cooling-to-the-touch material is a material that has a cooling-to-the-touch effect (the effect of feeling cool when it comes into contact with the skin). Cool-to-the-touch materials work by taking advantage of the property of heat moving from a high-temperature place to a low-temperature place to create a feeling of coolness."

I think the easiest example to understand is how cool concrete feels when you touch it.

When I had a dog, in the summer, if I thought he couldn't be found in the living room, he would often sleep on the cold concrete of the entrance hall. This must be what cooling to the touch feels like!

My current cat used to sleep on a cushion in the winter, but now he sleeps on the cold floor, moving around a little at a time.

Returning to the topic of fabric,

Well, it is true that any material will gradually become warm when it comes into contact with body heat. Materials such as polyethylene, gel, and polyester, which are often used in cooling products, have low water absorption and do not absorb water or sweat.

This may cause it to become steamy.

Every year, the summer gets hotter and more tiring. I feel like there are more and more products that say they have a cooling effect on the touch to help people get through the summer, but I think it's important to understand the details.

Natural fibers such as hemp, and synthetic fibers such as polyethylene, rayon, and nylon are also known to be materials that have a cooling effect when touched. Because they contain a lot of moisture, they are hard and crisp, and feel cool to the touch.

We hope that this knowledge will help you feel a little cooler and more comfortable this summer!
