Don'ts

It rained a lot yesterday

The rainy season has already started in Okinawa, but I wonder if it will soon start in the Kanto region?

When it rains, I have to hang all my laundry out to dry indoors.

The room was filled with both the humidity from the rain and the laundry, and the double humidity clung to my body.

It's not exactly comfortable. It really makes me blue.

But the dryer is a lifesaver for people living in Japan!

They have become quite common in ordinary households, and I'm sure many of you have a washing machine with a dryer attached.

Unfortunately I don't have a dryer...

I've been using the traditional vertical washing machine for over 10 years now and it's working fine.

When I lived in the US, it was normal to have a washer and dryer, so after I ran all my clothes through the washing machine, I would just throw them in the dryer, but now I dry them indoors.

No matter what, if you have a dryer, you want to dry all your laundry in it, especially during the rainy season.

But never put silk products in the dryer! Please!

I'm sorry, but please don't use the dryer during the rainy season.

I'll tell you why it's bad.

Silk products shrink anyway!

This makes the fabric weaker!

When your precious silk products are dried (especially in a drum dryer!), they are beaten and dried with heat, causing the surface of the item to become rubbed, fuzzy, and whitish.

The fuzz will become dry and brittle and the unique feel of silk will be lost!

In addition, of course, the sheen of silk will fade and disappear.

Silk is by no means a cheap item, and it is a shame to see it end up like this.

Silk can be a bit of a hassle during the rainy season, but since you've taken the time to buy a silk product, we hope you'll take good care of it by using a circulator or a bathroom dryer to ensure you can enjoy it for as long as possible.

Personally, I hate rain so much that just the rain makes me feel bad, but as long as I live in Japan, I can't escape the rainy season.

As I have mentioned before, even if it is not the rainy season, it is a MUST to dry silk in the shade.

Silk is made of proteins, so you should never dry it in direct sunlight.
This material is extremely sensitive to heat and UV rays!

Silk is the best! Love Silk
