Satin, satin.

What image comes to mind when you think of satin?

It's smooth, silky and shiny...it's exactly like silk!

However, satin is a type of fabric, rather it refers to the weaving method, so it is incorrect to say that satin = silk.

Satin fabric is characterized by its glossy, lustrous surface and smooth feel.

If you make satin out of polyester, it will look just like silk, but if you burn it, you can immediately tell whether it's polyester or silk.

Silk is resistant to fire, while polyester is flammable. The raw material for polyester is…

Yes, it's petroleum. It's meant to burn when you set it on fire... It burns in an instant. On the other hand, silk is flame-retardant, so it only breaks down at 300 degrees.

As an aside, even though it is polyester satin, it is sometimes called " Imitation Silk" or " Ice Silk, " so don't confuse it with silk!

The reason I decided to write about satin today is because I discovered cotton satin pillowcases!

Cotton sateen may not be new, but it was a novelty for me. To be honest, cotton sateen was not as smooth and shiny as silk, but it was shiny for cotton.

If you think satin = silk, you might be confused if you see cotton satin...! Anyway, that was an unnecessary worry, and today I'm going to talk about satin.

I think I've written about satin before, so be sure to check that out too!
